Applications are invited for a 10PA substantive Consultant post as part of a newly expanded and reimagined infection service based at the Royal Cornwa...
The scope of these posts include the following activities arranged in rotation among the team with ample opportunity to develop special interests such as specialist team support, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control as well as outpatient antibiotic support or rapid access:
- Advice on investigation and management of infections
- In patient ID consults
- Bacteraemia and significant infection rounds
- Day-to-day support for all aspects of the diagnostic laboratory
- IPAC and AMS support
- Liaison with health protection teams
- Out of hours cover. This is currently provided on a 1:4 rota.
- Any responsibility that relates to a special interest.
- Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
- Contribute to the teaching commitment for the Peninsula Medical School.
- Support specialist MDTs

Qualifications, Registration and Experience
Essential
- GMC registration with licence to practice
- On the specialist register for Infectious diseases or Medical Microbiology
- Within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at time of interview
Desirable: - Evidence of research or higher degree relevant to infection practise; - Undergraduate and post graduate Teaching and education experience
Other Skills
Essential: - Excellent teamworking
Desirable: - Leadership and quality improvement experience
