Community Mental Health (Adult Social Care) Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (Newcastle City Council) Pay Rate: £28.00 per hour Contract: Initial 4-week placement (with a strong likelihood of extension) Are you an experienced Adult Social Care practitioner looking for your next contract? Newcastle City Council is seeking a Progressed Social Worker to join their dynamic Community Mental Health Social Work Team. This role is ideal for a skilled practitioner who can step in, deliver high-quality social work interventions, and support adults experiencing mental health difficulties to live safely and independently within the community. Key Responsibilities
Carry a caseload of adults with complex needs, primarily focusing on individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
Complete strengths-based assessments, care planning, and robust risk management under Adult Social Care frameworks.
Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, health partners, and community services to achieve positive outcomes.
Apply statutory guidance, including the Care Act 2014 and relevant mental health legislation, to protect and empower vulnerable adults.
Candidate Requirements
Social Work qualification and active registration with Social Work England.
Proven experience as a Progressed / Experienced Social Worker within Adult Social Care.
Direct experience working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties is highly desirable.
Strong assessment, report-writing, and complex decision-making skills.
