The Trustwide Dietetics Service has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Band 3 Clinical Support Assistant. This is a full time, permanent post bas...

You will undertake duties to help patients meet their nutritional needs, you will hold a patient caseload under the supervision of registered dietitians and carry out reviews of progress for patients with non-complex needs.

You will deliver basic dietary advice on healthy eating to individuals and within group settings and assist in developing nutrition education resources. You will also work closely with the catering departments and be involved in menu analysis.

Full support and supervision will be provided by the dietitians who are experienced in working with patients with mental health issues and learning disabilities. The service is committed to providing a high-quality dietetic service and relevant training and development opportunities will be available to build the skills needed to work within this challenging but rewarding environment.

Everyone in our service is actively encouraged to take part in the development of the Dietetics Service within the Trust including audit and promotion of the service through various events and initiatives. Your development is important to us.

We take dietetic students from Teesside and Newcastle Universities, and it is expected that you will be involved in student training.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ 3 (or equivalent) in Care or relevant subject, or working towards this qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working/volunteering in an appropriate care setting
  • Able to follow instructions recognising the boundaries of own competency

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in dietetics
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting

Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Ability to use IT system
  • Ability to establish a rapport with service users
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to cope with distressing and emotional situations
  • Confident, reliable, flexible, enthusiastic and motivated
  • Able to meet the mobility requirements of the post

  • Advanced IT skills
  • Awareness of food hygiene
