The post holder will work as part of the Physiotherapy Team, supporting Physiotherapists to deliver care to children with physical and movement difficulties and Special Educational Needs (SEN) across Brent.
- Supporting children in mainstream and special schools, preschool settings, community settings and MSK clinics.
- Working with children who may have severe or profound learning disabilities, challenging behaviours or English as an additional language (EAL).
- Working independently with children under the guidance and direction of a Physiotherapist.
- Supporting Physiotherapists and education staff to deliver individual physiotherapy programmes.
- Adapting activities to meet each child's individual needs and help them access their curriculum and environment.
- Working collaboratively with children and young people, parents, carers, families and education staff.
- Supporting group activities within schools, community settings and MSK outpatient clinics.
- Travelling between schools and community locations as required.
- Completing administrative duties to support the day-to-day running of the department.
- Contributing to team meetings and departmental projects.
- Assisting Physiotherapists with the delivery of training to school staff and parents on aspects of physiotherapy.

Education/Qualification
Essential: - Recognised NVQ or equivalent Qualification; - Educated to at least: 5 GCSEs A-C, including English and Maths
Desirable: - Short courses in development of physical skills/child related medical conditions
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience working as a physiotherapy assistant/practitioner in an NHS setting
- Working with Children and young people with physical difficulties
- Working with parents and carers
- Working with a physiotherapist
- Administration tasks
Desirable
- Working within an education environment
- Running groups
- Experience working with electronic patient records such as systemone/RIO/EMIS
- Experience working with databases/excel spread sheets
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people of all ages and abilities.
- Ability to work independently under guidance within agreed constraints.
- Ability to carry out tasks as directed by an PT
- Awareness of the roles of other professionals in Health, Education and Social Care involved with CYP.
- Good computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems
- Knowledge of children with disabilities
Desirable: - Knowledge of SEN/EHCP process
