We are expanding our Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist teams here at Imperial, and this is an exciting opportunity to take on band 6 Clinical Nurse Spe...
- This postholder will be supported to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver the CNS role, under supervision.
- A clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working within a specific area of practice. They assess, manage, deliver care, advise on, and support patients.
- CNSs have the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their actions, acting as a specialist advisor for patients, or a resource for others.
- CNSs perform specialist holistic assessment and treatment using a personalised approach. This is characterised by a level of decision making based on detailed knowledge and understanding of their area of practice.
- As part of the multidisciplinary team CNSs can work in or across many settings, depending on their area of expertise and scope of practice.
- Cancer CNSs deliver personalised care in line with NHS cancer plan, using holistic needs assessment (HNA) to meet changing needs, making sure people affected by cancer have access to resources and services, information and support and have access to a specialist cancer nurse.
- Cancer CNSs actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to continuously raise the profile of cancer nursing, promote patient centred services for patients affected by cancer, contribute to cancer care within their speciality and ensure high quality cancer care.
