Band 4 Assistant Psychologist - Bristol

The post holder will support the delivery of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and psychologically informed interventions for children and young people with autistic spectrum profiles who present with complex behaviours of distress.

Working under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, PBS Practitioner or other qualified clinician within the Autism Intensive Service (AIS), the post holder will assist in gathering information to inform assessments, implement intervention plans developed by qualified clinicians, collect and recordbehavioural data, and support service users and families in a range of settings including home, school and community environments.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-informed care and will work collaboratively with other professionals, families and carers. The role does not involve independent clinical assessment, formulation, care planning or clinical decision making.

The post holder will deliver intervention programmes to children and young people in their specialist educational settings, short break provision and their home setting. The post holder will be willing and able to work between 7am and 7pm as needed.

To support qualified clinicians in the delivery of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) and other psychologically informed interventions.

To implement intervention programmes designed by qualified clinicians in educational, home and community settings.

To observe and record behaviours, environmental factors and intervention outcomes using agreed recording systems.

To assist in the collection of information to support psychological and behavioural assessments.

To administer questionnaires and collect outcome data under the direction of qualified clinicians.

To support service users, families and carers to implement agreed strategies developed by qualified clinicians.

To assist with preparing materials and resources for assessments and intervention sessions.

To maintain accurate, timely and contemporaneous clinical records.

To promptly communicate relevant information and concerns to supervising clinicians.

To identify and report risks, safeguarding concerns or deterioration in a child or young person's presentation in accordance with Trust policies.

To participate in multidisciplinary meetings as required and contribute factual observational information.

Qualifications

Essential: - Honours Psychology Degree (2:1 or First); - Eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS

Desirable: - Experience of practice based research; - Training in ACT/DNA-V/PBS/ABA programmes
