B6 Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery & Oncology Snr Dietitian

• Manage a specialist caseload of HPB surgical and oncology patients and deliver regular outpatient clinics and inpatient assessments.
• Provide specialist dietetic input throughout the HPB cancer treatment pathway, from diagnosis and prehabilitation through to surgery, oncology treatment, recovery and survivorship.
• Support the ongoing development of a new and expanding HPB dietetic service working closely with the Band 7 Specialist HPB Dietitian.
• Contribute to audit, quality improvement and service evaluation projects throughout the post to demonstrate the impact and effectiveness of the specialist HPB dietetic service.
• Collect, record and analyse clinical activity and outcome data to support service evaluation, quality improvement initiatives and future business case development.
• Participate in service development initiatives and help establish efficient systems and processes to support the future growth of the HPB dietetic service.
• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to identify opportunities for pathway improvement, service redesign and enhanced patient outcomes.
• Contribute to the development of patient information resources, clinical guidelines and evidence-based practice within the HPB service.

Essential

• Evidence of relevant GCSE, NVQ, GNVQ, AS and A levels
• Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
• Registration with HCPC

Desirable

• MSc or equivalent experience e.g. advanced level of clinical practice / relevant postgraduate, professionally accredited courses

Essential

• Relevant post registration experience relevant to clinical area.
• In depth for nutritional assessment / nutritional screening tools.
• Knowledge of all types of nutritional support.
• Up to date with clinical developments, with evidence of contributions to clinical meetings / journal clubs.
• Working knowledge of computer programmes e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, powerpoint, dietary analysis, data collection and patient information programmes.
• Evidence of clinical audit and/or research.
• Evidence of multi-disciplinary team work.
• Knowledge of standards of record keeping and medico-legal issues.
• Experience of training Dietetic students.

Desirable

• Experience in HPB, Surgery, and/or Oncology.
• Knowledge of HPB Cancer pathways.
• Knowledge or experience in prehabilitation.
• Evidence of teaching groups of professionals and patients
• Evidence of ongoing regular attendance on post-graduate training courses and clinical development.
• Evidence of attendance at national conferences.
• Attendance at specialist group meetings of BDA and accredited specialist training course.
• Attendance at relevant multi-disciplinary courses/conferences
