Advanced Specialist Podiatrist Developmental Post

• Undertake assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for a defined caseload, including domiciliary care.
• Develop skills in high-risk foot management, including diabetic wound care
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in acute settings
• Develop MSK clinics with the specialist team
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with organisational standards
• Participate in audit, service improvement, and CPD activities

• Manage a complex caseload including high-risk and ulcerated patients
• Participate in delivering of MSK services
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff and students
• Contribute to service development, pathways, and quality improvement initiatives
• Lead on clinical audits and implementation of best practice guidelines
• Support workforce development and training within the service
• Work closely with MDT colleagues including vascular teams, diabetes services, and GPs

• Completion of an agreed competency framework
• Demonstration of advanced clinical reasoning and autonomous practice
• Evidence of leadership, supervision, and service development involvement
• Formal review and sign-off by senior clinical leads

• Delivering evidence-based podiatry assessment, treatment and rehabilitation plans.
• Managing patients with complex clinical needs and identifying those requiring urgent intervention or referral.
• Undertaking routine and specialist podiatry procedures, including nail surgery where appropriate.
• Working autonomously while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Providing education and self-management advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with professional, clinical governance and safeguarding standards.
• Participating in service development, audit, quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Supporting student placements, junior staff development and clinical supervision (particularly at Band 7 level).
• Contributing to risk management, infection prevention and health and safety requirements.
