The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running and supervision of the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit under the management of the Senior Pharmacy Technicians to ensure safe, effective and timely provision of Aseptic products to all patients.
participating in staff training;
aseptic manufacture of products;
checking activities;
generating worksheets and labels using the Pharmacy computer system;
assisting the Aseptic Services Managers in the development of new services for the Trust;
advising the Senior Aseptic Technicians on amending work practices and documentation to improve the running of the service;
maintaining equipment according to procedures and actively encouraging adherence to all procedures relating to the aseptic services department and GMP;
quality assurance activities.

Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.
Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
Qualifications
Essential
- BTEC - Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
- Eligible for registration with GPhC or relevant membership body
- Certificate in checking competency verified bi-annually
- Eligible and willing to undertake Pre and Inprocess checking accreditation with completion within 12 months
Desirable
- Registered with GPhC or eligible for membership with relevant body
- Pre and In-process checking accreditation (regional or local)
- Post qualification training in aseptic services
Previous Experience
Essential: - Working knowledge of aseptic services; - Technical ability and knowledge in cytotoxic and aseptic reconstitution
Desirable
- Direct and recent experience working in an aseptic unit.
- Experience in staff supervision
- Experience in training staff in aseptic preparation
- Record of continual professional development
- Stock management experience
Knowledge / Skills / Aptitude

- Ability to receive, manage and communicate complex information to staff, patients and external parties
- Excellent and effective communication skills
- Good organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
- Able to work flexibly within a team with ability to supervise, manage and motivate

- Computer literate
Desirable
- Knowledge of Ascribe- manufacturing module
- Awareness of GMP legislation and standards
- Up to date and good understanding of pharmacy law, ethics and responsibilities
Specific Requirements
Essential
- Ability to work in an isolator fully gloved and gowned
- Committed to continuing professional development (CPD)
- Able to participate in late duty, weekend and bank holiday service in aseptics and in the dispensary on a rotational basis
- Able to participate in aseptic out of hours emergency duties Good
- personal hygiene
Desirable: - Able to drive and to work Trustwide
