  • Lead and conduct complex, sensitive, and high-profile employee relations investigations across the Trust, ensuring a fair, impartial, and timely approach.
  • Act as the Trust's subject matter expert on workplace investigations, including Maintaining High Professional Standards (MHPS) cases involving medical staff.
  • Manage investigations from initial scoping through to reporting, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, ACAS guidance, and relevant employment legislation.
  • Coach, support, and develop managers and investigators, promoting best practice, consistency, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Design and deliver training on investigation skills, risk mitigation, and employment relations best practice.
  • Analyse employee relations data, identify trends, and contribute to service improvements and organisational learning.
  • Review and enhance investigation processes, guidance, and tools to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Champion a compassionate, inclusive, and learning-focused culture aligned with Trust values.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing a caseload across a range of matters
  • Proven experience of giving advice and support on sensitive and confidential matters including complex and contentious casework
  • Experience of writing investigation reports or equivalent reports where analysis and comparison of information is required
  • Experience of having developed and delivered training sessions
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment
  • Experience of contributing to the development of and successful implementation of policies, procedures and service improvement

Desirable

  • Experience of managing cases through Maintaining High Professional Standards (MHPS): Policies and Procedures for Medical and Dental Practitioners
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Experience of working in the NHS/ public sector

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of employment law, legislation and policies with practical application in an organisation
  • Knowledge of current HR issues/best practice

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS terms and conditions of service - agenda for change and medical and dental
  • Knowledge of the MHPS Policies and Procedures for Medical and Dental Practitioners

Skills

Essential

  • Advanced keyboard skills and manipulating reports (1) - efficiently use Microsoft and other software (1)
  • Ability to organise own workload that is subject to change (1) and effective time management (1)

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate diploma level or equivalent or able to demonstrate specialist knowledge within this field through practical experience
  • Coaching or mentoring qualification or study
  • Facilitation or mediation qualification or substantial training
