An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join the Team at Glan Clwyd Hospital. To work as a member of a team providing an efficient and ...

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors to the Ward and must demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Working as part of the Ward Team the post holder will be required to give efficient clerical support to the nursing staff on the Ward.

Applicants must also have a good standard of education, be adaptable and have good organisational skills. A professional telephone manner is essential to receive and respond courteously to all telephone enquiries regarding patient care.

Previous Ward Clerk experience and knowledge of the Patient Administration System (WPAS) is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Maths/English GCSE or equivalent

Desirable

  • NVQ 2 in Administration NVQ in Customer Service ECDL

Other

Essential

  • Welsh Speaker (level 3 and above)

Experience

Essential

  • Sufficient previous clerical/office/reception/Ward duties
  • Working with the public Working in a busy environment

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within the health care sector.
  • General experience of administration functions.

Skills

Essential

  • Good communication skills
  • IT Skills
  • Welsh speaking - minimum level 3 required

Desirable

  • WPAS Case note tracking WCP RADIS.
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining medical records

Knowledge

Desirable

  • Knowledge of data protection and patient confidentiality
