An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trust as an Ultrasound Modality Lead Sonographer. We are recruiting for a Band 8A Lead sonographer post...

  • To be responsible for the management and day-to day running of the specialised services pertaining to the ultrasound unit.
  • To ensure diagnostic targets for the ultrasound service are met.
  • To be responsible for the management and development of the specialist service ensuring optimum use of staffing and equipment resources within the modalities.
  • To lead and participate in the clinical audit & clinical governance programmes.
  • To be responsible for scanning patients and producing independent reports of these scans including high risk obstetric, non-obstetric and gynaecological patients.
  • To act as practice educator and take an active role in teaching & practical training of student sonographers, specialist registrars & others in training.
  • To be responsible for the professional leadership and training of the team, providing a high quality patient focused service.
  • To be responsible for sonographer & support staff rota management and liaising with the radiology admin lead and maternity admin team to ensure adequate capacity to meet the demand.
  • To ensure maintenance of equipment and a safe working environment.
  • To provide a service across all sites

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience post qualification at Band 7 level
  • Experience of leading and managing a team
  • Participation in clinical audit

Desirable

  • Participation in performance targets / data collection and action plans

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC, NMC or RCT registration
  • Postgraduate qualification in Ultrasonography

Desirable

  • DCR/BSc in radiography
  • Management qualification

Skills, Knowledge and abilities

Essential

  • Awareness of all legislation relevant to the post.
  • Competently undertake and prioritise a complex clinical and operational workload.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work and inspire a team.
