This role provides specialist support to patients throughout their cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. You will run nurse-led clinics, participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, and arranges diagnostic tests and investigations to support timely, effective care.

A key part of the role is communicating cancer diagnoses and recurrences with sensitivity and compassion, discussing treatment options, and helping patients make informed decisions about their care. You will provide ongoing support to patients and their families, including during disease progression and end-of-life care.

You will coordinate care across services, making referrals to appropriate support networks and managing treatment-related side effects and ongoing patient needs, ensuring patients receive holistic, patient-centred care at every stage of their pathway.

If you do not already hold a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification, we will support you to achieve this early in your role.

You'll also use research, clinical evidence and emerging best practice to help inform treatment discussions and enhance patient care.

You'll become part of a well-established, friendly and proactive team of Urology Cancer Nurse Specialists, working alongside experienced clinicians and multidisciplinary colleagues committed to delivering outstanding care.

The team enjoys strong working relationships across the service, with excellent support for the continued development of nurse-led practice.

We are proud of the high-quality, compassionate care we provide and consistently achieve excellent results in the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey.

We use the EPIC electronic patient record system, enabling seamless communication across the multidisciplinary team and immediate access to patient records, investigations and results, helping us deliver safe, efficient and coordinated care.

Making a difference

Youll work closely with our wider cancer services, including the Living With and Beyond Cancer Team, helping patients access the support they need throughout their cancer journey.

We also work in partnership with Over and Above Cancer Charity based in the Fern Centre, which provides a wide range of practical, emotional and wellbeing support for patients and their families.

In addition, the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity is investing in the future of cancer care through initiatives including the Light Beam Appeal for surface guided radiotherapy and the transformation of the Fern Centre garden.
