To undertake assessments and treatments for patients that have been screened by a Therapist and deemed appropriate for Therapy Assistant Practitioner intervention with case management advice available via indirect and direct contact with a registered therapist.
To carry own caseload of non-complex patients assessing, according to competencies, and devising and implementing treatment programmes within a framework of protocols and/or competency.
To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency teams with the aim of supporting timely discharge.
To enable patients, their families and carers in the attainment of their rehabilitation goals by providing treatment programmes developed and monitored by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in supervision.
To deliver safe, efficient and effective patient focussed care in line with local standards.
To be actively involved in the in-service training programme, including the mentoring and training of Band 2 and 3 therapy assistants and supporting students as required.
To participate in the provision of 7-day services as required.
To adhere to the Trusts values and behaviours.

Qualifications
Essential
- Level 3 apprenticeship in health and social care (NVQ III)
- GCSE English and Maths - grade 9-4 or Functional skills English and Maths - level 2
- Evidence of having attended clinical training and how this has been put into practice
Desirable
- A level in human biology
- Relevant degree, e.g. level 5 foundation degree (healthcare related) sports therapy, sports science, rehabilitation science, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of working as a band 3 in a Therapy support worker role or student therapist role
- Comfortable using clinical and administrative IT systems as part of daily workflow
Desirable
- Experience of facilitating group-based activities and delivering education sessions to patients in a healthcare or community setting
Knowledge
Essential
- To have an in-depth knowledge of the roles of Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist within rehabilitation and the ability to support their interventions to promote patient independence, recovery and safe discharge planning
- To have an in-depth knowledge of rehabilitation
- To have an in-depth knowledge of the cardiovascular system
- To have an in-depth knowledge of the respiratory system
- To have an in-depth knowledge of the musculoskeletal system

- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate and timely patient documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to use verbal and non-verbal communication effectively, demonstrate active listening, and adapt communication styles to meet individual needs
- Ability to work autonomously, managing own workload and prioritising effectively
- Sound knowledge of therapy-related equipment and the ability to assess, select and instruct others in its appropriate use

Essential
- Demonstrates personal responsibility and accountability for own practice, with the confidence to work independently and the judgement to seek support or escalate concerns when appropriate
- Ability to support and promote the learning and development of patients, carers, colleagues and learners through teaching, coaching and role modelling
- Actively contribute to the team effort including service development
