Team Manager

We have a very strong commitment to education, research and staff development. As well as promoting your own professional development, we will expect you to participate in the teaching and training of nurses and other health professionals.

This is a challenging but rewarding role, offering an exciting opportunity to nurses who have strong assessment and therapeutic skills. You will need the ability to work autonomously whilst still contributing to the team as a whole. Previous experience of working in Liaison Psychiatry is desirable, although not essential. We offer excellent staff support through clinical supervision and teamwork.

Utilise a wide variety of clinical skills appropriate to the needs of individual patients and the clinical setting in which they are required to be seen.

Take direct responsibility for providing specialist care and treatment for a small caseload of patients, not exceeding six at any one time.

Carry out specialist assessments, develop, implement, evaluate and document specialist care.

Provide a consultation-liaison service to clinicians and clinical teams within the general hospital. This will include giving specialist advice on a range of care, treatment and patient management issues.

Demonstrate a high standard of record keeping and documentation with adherence to trust policy and an understanding of professional guidelines and application of confidentiality.

Work with colleagues to develop and promote the services philosophy, framework of care delivery and strategic objectives, taking responsibility for specific areas of policy and strategy delivery

Work with colleagues to develop clinical expertise and high standards of clinical practice, as defined by the Nursing & Midwifery code of professional conduct and the equivalent for Occupational Therapy.

Deliver care that is evidence based, reflecting current best practice and research.

Participate in structured clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

You will also be expected to take responsibility for the supervision of nurses and others in non-mental health settings working with patients with mental health problems.

Demonstrate clinical excellence and high standards of nursing practice to other staff.

Demonstrate sound understanding of the legal and ethical issues in caring for the mentally ill. In particular, demonstrating sound understanding of the Mental Health Act (1983) and its use in a non-mental health setting.
