The main duties and responsibilities of this post are to

  • Ensure a safe and high standard of care of all patients
  • Participate in the running of the department/ward
  • Provide clinical supervision of Junior doctors on medical wards &/or in the on-call team
  • Provide senior medical input for the on-call Medical Team (especially Out of Hours) and potentially lead the cardiac arrest team
  • Assist with achieving the DOH Clinical Quality Indicators
  • Deliver teaching sessions for medical students and junior doctors.
  • Provide bedside teaching, tutorials, case-based discussions and simulation sessions.
  • Support the development of educational resources and teaching programmes.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Your normal place of work will be across the Leicester Royal Infirmatry and will be confirmed in Section 1 of your contract, but you may be required to work in other locations of the Trust. In particular, flexibility is required across the three main Hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital). Excess travel reimbursement will not apply for UHL cross site working.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Must hold at least MRCP Part 1 Qualification
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice

Desirable

  • MRCP Part 1, 2 & PACES (Full Membership)
  • Advanced Life Support

Experience

Essential

  • NHS / UK Experience

Desirable

  • At least 2 years' experience of working at Neurology IMT level either in the UK or abroad

Skills

Essential

  • All Foundation Competencies should be met (Completion of F2 or CREST form).
  • Demonstratable ability to perform clinical procedures and make clinical decisions a t the level of a ST3+ registrar. (Ie. A scitic tap s & drains, lumbar punctures, ultrasound guided lines, joint aspiration, airway management etc.)
