To assist the Ward Manager in providing high quality nursing care and treatment of patients in conjunction with other professionals through the service's multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment, interventions and care programmes, which will include close liaison with family, carers, community teams, GP's, and other professionals involved in theperson's care, enabling them to move on to the community as soon as is practicable.
To work with people to help them acquire or regain the skills and confidence required for them to ultimately live in the community. Focusing on addressing and minimising the symptoms and functional impairment that people may have, with an emphasis on achieving as much individual autonomy and independence as possible.
To develop therapeutic relationships with individuals and engage them in collaborative and effective partnership working to achieve agreed goals.
To contribute to the provision of a daily structure and range of effective clinical interventions, so as to balance the therapeutic needs of the person with the need for support and security, andto promote their individuality and autonomy in the least restrictive environment.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course, and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.

Professional Qualification and Professional Registration:
Essential
- Must be a registered mental health nurse
- Must have professional UK registration ie NMC
- Educated to degree level or equivalent level of highly developed specialist knowledge and experience
- Experience of Teaching and Assessing In Clinical Practice

Essential
- Ability to communicate effectively at different levels of an organisation in both verbal and written form, for example with staff, patients, visitors or external organisations in the exchange of very highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, which will require the use of negotiating and/or persuasive skills.
- Evidence of skills in diplomacy, negotiation and influencing
- Ability to evaluate care leading to improvement in quality standards an service improvement
- Inquisitive and eager to learn.
- Evidence of seeking ways to improve self and others.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy for self, colleagues, and service users
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working within the care sector, or demonstrate transferable experience
- Able to demonstrate knowledge in clinical assessment, treatment and care for people's mental health
- Demonstrable knowledge of legislation relevant to area of practice
- A robust understanding of the function of mental health rehabilitation
- Evidence of proactive involvement in supervision.
Desirable: - Previous experience of working in mental health service; - Previous experience of working within the NHS
Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
Essential: - Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio
