To work as part of a team of nurses, health care assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team and be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating of nursing care.
The fast-paced environment of Paediatrics ED means our staff have to be adaptable in adjusting their priorities to patient and departmental needs which can change rapidly. We are looking for motivated and flexible nurses that are able to adapt to this ever-changing environment, whilst keeping patient safety and compassion at the forefront of everything they do.
- To give and receive regular reports on the progress of patients, reporting any changes, immediately to the NIC
- To participate in the checking and administration of prescribed and controlled drugs in accordance with Trust policy including IV medication
- To always maintain confidentiality
- Maintain a learning environment enabling student's and NQN's to achieve their learning objectives
- Act as a role model to all
- Act as a resource for the ED for child protection issues
- To ensure all equipment is in good working order and ready for immediate use. Report any defects
- To report any untoward events/problems affecting patients or staff and completing an incident report
- To be up to date with all statutory and mandatory training
- To assist in the achievement of the departments performance indicators.
- Any other duties, which may be requested by the manager, to facilitate a smooth running of the department

Qualifications
Essential
- Current or pending) NMC registration
- Registered Sick Children's Nurse
- Evidence of recent continuous professional development

Experience

- Experience of working in an acute or clinical environment
- Ability to prioritise patient care
