Staff Nurse - Band 5 - Fixed term opportunity for 1 year Working hours - Between 0800 and 1800
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to join the Interventional Radiology team in their department at Croydon University Hospital.
You will provide care and support to patients undergoing Interventional procedures. You will act as a scrub/circulating nurse within the Interventional Lab for numerous procedures, including angioplasty, nephrostomy and embolisation. Following an agreed training programme, you would be expected to participate in nurse led conscious sedation and possibly an out of hours emergency service.
Prior experience in Radiology or an acute setting would be an advantage.Informal visits are encouraged.

Education and Qualification
Essential
- Registered Nurse Level 1
- Willingness to participate in CPD
Desirable
- Teaching Qualification e.g. Mentorship
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge and Understanding
Essential
- Demonstrates and understanding of clinical emergencies, prioritisation and decision making
- Demonstrates knowledge of Interventional Radiological Procedures
- Good understanding of anatomy
- Demonstrates awareness of the principles of infection control and aseptic technique
- Awareness of current developments in nursing
Desirable
- Knowledge of Peripheral Vascular Disease
- Knowledge of Radiation Protection
Experience
Essential
- Radiology nursing experience Or Minimum of 6 months recent, continuous experience of nursing care in an acute setting post registration
Desirable
- Acute healthcare experience
Skills/Abilities
Essential
- Good written and verbal communication skills Good organisational skills
- Ability to wear Radiation Protection Lead Aprons for lengthy periods
- Flexible to service needs
- Able to participate in the 24 hour on call service following training period if required
Desirable
- Cannulation and Phlebotomy Certification
- IV Drug Administration Certification
