As a registered Nurse you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care. No two days are the same. depending on what type ...

As band 5 RN on AMU you will be responsible and accountable for assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care

Work as a member of the multi disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward manager/charge nurse

Following successful completion of preceptorship you will be required to take charge of an area for a span of duty

The post holder will always work within the NMC's Code of professional conduct

Assessing , planning, implementing and evaluating care

Develop clinical knowledge to care for unwell adults

Safe drug administration

Excellent communication skills to optimise care for unwell patients on AMU 2

Maintaining safe environment for patients, relatives and colleagues

Planning and implementing safe discharge for patients liaising with multidisciplinary team.

Carry out venepuncture , cannulation, VBG, ABG, Blood cultures, catheterisation and managing Peg feeding

Document all care as per NMC guidelines and ensure all patient risk assessments are completed within the expected time frames

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
  • BSc in Nursing (Diploma in Nursing as a minimum)

Desirable

  • Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor Training
  • Post registration qualification in relevant specialty

Experience

Essential

  • Recent clinical nursing experience as a student or as a registered nurse

Desirable

  • Experience within relevant clinical setting
  • Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment.
  • Evidence of working with learners

Knowledge

Essential

  • Sound clinical nursing knowledge and a good understanding of nursing issues and clinical governance
  • Demonstrates awareness of own limitations

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to support less experienced staff
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable
