Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology - Fixed term - 12 months This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly and supportive Obstetrics a...

The duties will involve the day-to-day care and management of in-patients and outpatients in all aspects of general elective and emergency obstetrics and gynaecology, working under direct or indirect supervision of a consultant. The daytime direct clinical care sessions will include labour ward and gynaecology-on call, antenatal and gynaecology clinics, and theatre sessions. The post holders will participate in the 2nd on call rota, including out of hours on a 1 in 8 full shift with prospective cover for annual, study and statutory days leave.

The post holders will be expected to undertake mandatory training and attend local PROMPT training, and will be encouraged to undertake an audit or quality improvement project during their tenure, in order to enhance the patient experience or to improve patient management. The successful applicants will be supported to maintain requirements for Continued Professional Development as specified by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate experience in training grade posts at Clinical fellow level or above - minimum 3 years Minimum 12 months at Registrar level

Desirable

  • 6 months UK clinical experience

Knowledge/ Qualification

Essential

  • Full GMC registration MRCOG Part I

Desirable

  • Full MRCOG Knowledge of computer systems

Basic Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • General medical procedures and skills appropriate to the grade Supervision and teaching of junior doctors

Personal qualities

Essential

  • Good interpersonal skills
