Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian with NHS experience and an understanding of Tier 3 and 4 services to join our Specialist Weight Manage...
- To assess and monitor patients under the Tier 3 specialist weight management service and Tier 4 bariatric service.
- To liaise with all relevant healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care.
- Carry out dietetic / nutritional assessments (including interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometrics, clinical condition and diet history) to determine nutritional diagnosis
- Use enhanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist individual dietetic advice and treatment plans for patients who may present with multiple / complex clinical conditions taking into consideration patients own goals and incorporate discharge planning as appropriate
- Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment plans as required
- Communicate nutrition and dietetic information in an understandable form to staff, clients and carers using teaching, motivation and counselling skills including situations where there are barriers to change
- Undertake department audit and service development work, translating findings into practice
- Plan and organise the clinical supervision of student dietitians on clinical placement including planning, timetables and written assessments.
We are actively involved in the training of student dietitians.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics (pending qualification will also be considered)
- HCPC registration (pending registration will also be considered)
Desirable
- BDA member
- Clinical supervisory skills student training course
Experience
Essential
- Recently qualified as a registered dietitian (or due to qualify)
- Experience of caseload management and delivering a project (either during placement or since qualifying)
- Experience of group and individual dietetic sessions including preparation, delivery and evaluation
Desirable
- Post qualification dietetic experience including experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in clinical supervision of student dietitians
- Experience gained in audit and / or service review
Knowledge
Essential
- Up to date dietetic knowledge acquired through degree qualification
- Awareness of best practice in dietetics
- Aware of the format of pre-registration placement for dietitians
- Aware of the different communication needs within a culturally diverse community and how this may impact on professional practice
Skills
Essential
- Able to communicate with clients using dietary counselling, motivational and negotiation sills
- Able to anaylse information and make judgements on dietetic issues
- Able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds without risk of misunderstanding
- Able to plan and prioritise own caseload using time management skills - with support when needed
- Keyboard skills
- Flexible approach and willingness to adapt to change
Desirable
- IT skills to support clinical practice
