An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy Team, working on the acute wards at The Royal Oldham H...

1. To be a specialist speech and language therapist in the field of adult acquired communication / swallowing disorders.

2. To act as an autonomous practitioner with specialist knowledge, skills and experience, assessing, diagnosing and managing patients on the caseload.

3. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of one's professional and clinical work, working to agreed national and professional standards.

4. To plan, deliver and evaluate clinical audit, research activities and in-service training within specialist area.

The post will involve work on acute wards in a variety of medical / surgical areas including critical care, radiology and out-patients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Accredited SLT degree or equivalent
  • Evidence of successful completion of dysphagia competencies

Desirable

  • Evidence of completion of specialist short courses or other post-graduate training

Professional Registration

Essential

  • Registered with HPC (Health Professionals Council), licence to practice
  • Registered member of RCSLT

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Training & Experience

Essential

  • At least 1 year post qualification experience working with adults with acquired communication / swallowing disorders
  • Experience of working within relevant specialist area at undergraduate / postgraduate level
  • Knowledge and use of up-to-date assessment procedures and therapy techniques relevant to client group
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability and commitment to deliver training packages

Desirable

  • Skills in the interpretation of videofluoroscopy assessment
  • Experience of training SLTs and others
