Specialist Physiotherapist

• To perform specialised and advanced assessments and treatments as part of the Post Covid and Multiple Symptoms Service, providing home, outpatient and community-based assessments and intervention to patients across the pathway.
• Provide supervision and support development of therapy assistants and students.
• To work autonomously, with support as appropriate, frequently as a lone practitioner and at times in conjunction with team colleagues, across a variety of locations within the community and outpatient settings including client's homes and residential care settings to meet the individual needs of the multi-cultural population in an inner-city area.
• To work across Lambeth and Southwark, accessing and recording information, communicating with patients and colleagues, attending meetings or training using mobile devices, and coming into offices when required.
• Support the service's commitment to meeting client needs and delivering excellence. It is essential the post holder be able to work their hours flexibly and contribute fully to both existing and new rotas. This may include 7 day working and non- traditional shift patterns.

• To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of the post-holders own work
• To carry out assessment of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with complex presentations, and using clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence-based practice, determines appropriate care plan utilising wide range of treatment skills and options
• To interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnoses in a wide range of conditions including those with a complex presentation, with occasional guidance from specialist physiotherapists
• To formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans
• To continually reassess patients in order to progress treatments effectively
• To co-ordinate intervention which may include other disciplines; advises and educates patient/carers/relatives/other health professionals
• Responsible for maintenance of accurate written records using POMR system and use of computerised data collection and records and comprehensive progress and discharge reports to medical referrers as required by rotation
• To manage clinical risk within own caseload at all times
• To demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy assessment and interventions including manual handling techniques and therapeutic handling
• To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients

• To participate in on call and weekend working at either St Thomas, Guys or Evelina London hospital sites as a lone practitioner

Essential

• Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
• HCPC registration
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field

Essential

• Broad range of experience, as an autonomous practitioner, at Band 5 level in acute and chronic respiratory care, acute and chronic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal work in NHS
• Experience of working as member of a physio team and of a multidisciplinary team
• Participation in on-call and weekend rota work

Desirable

• Previous experience at Band 6 level.
• Experience of working in community or Pos covid services
• Supervision of Band 5, PTA and Student
• Experience of teaching on In service programmes and to the MDT
• Experience of the research process

• Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities including therapeutic handling and manual techniques
• Ability to cope with working in a stressful environment including frequent interruptions when holding a bleep
• Able to perform on call and weekend duties
