Specialist Pharmacist, Interface, Formulary and Medicines Value

The primary role of this specialist post is to support the effective, decision making and management of the medicines formulary across UHCW.

This will include the introduction of new medications, audit / management of existing practice and joint work across the interface with primary care colleagues to ensure the cost effective evidence based use of medicines across the system.

To scope, lead and facilitate on agreed projects affecting medicines across the primary / secondary care interface to ensure best value and practice for the NHS.

The post holder will provide expert support to healthcare professionals to align to our robust medicines optimisation principals upon the development and introduction of new medications both within UHCW and across the wider system.

Qualifications

Desirable: - oMember of a professional organisation (eg Royal College of Pharmacy) oPharmacy or Pharmacy Practice related MSc oIndependent Prescriber

Experience

Desirable: - oExperience at a directorate pharmacist level. oExperience in line managing staff and conducting appraisals.

Knowledge

Essential: - oGood sound clinical pharmacy knowledge oUp-to-date knowledge of Medicines legislation oAn understanding on how medications are introduced into a hospital.

Desirable: - oGood specialist knowledge of areas of clinical responsibility

Skills

Desirable: - oGood negotiating skills oGood leadership and management ability oAble to work under pressure and meet short deadlines
