An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a 2 year fixed term position in the role of a Specialist Pharmacist Haematology in Pharmacy Technical ...
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of clinical pharmacy services to the haematology directorate. This will involve working closely with the haematology team providing specialist advice and ensuring safe and timely supply of medications to inpatients, outpatients, and the chemotherapy day unit. The specialist haematology pharmacists are key members of the multidisciplinary team, attending weekly MDT meetings as well as contributing towards teaching, guideline development and clinical audit.
The post is based within our Pharmacy Technical Services team, providing support to the aseptic unit and acting as an 'Authorised Pharmacist' to ensure safe and efficient service delivery. The post holder will be an integral member of the Technical Services team, supporting with the implementation of the action plan from the Assurance of Aseptic Preparation of Medicines audit to continuously develop the service and maintain the unit's low risk rating. The successful candidate will have previous experience working within Technical Services. You must have completed (or be undertaking) the clinical diploma and be committed to continuing professional development. Previous experience working within haematology or oncology would be an advantage but is not essential.

Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in pharmacy
- Registration as a practising pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Certificate or equivalent
Desirable
- Relevant postgraduate qualification completed (e.g. Clinical Pharmacy Diploma/MSc)
Work Experience
Essential
- Recent experience of working as a UK hospital pharmacist (Band 6 or above)
- Experience of working within Technical Services and an aseptic compounding cleanroom facility subject to GMP compliance and related regulatory quality standards Experience of audit and quality systems
- Experience in working with a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of audit and quality systems
Desirable
- Experience of working within a relevant clinical speciality (e.g. haematology or oncology)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Essential
- Knowledge of GMP
- Excellent time management skills
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with pharmacy staff, hospital staff and patients/carers
- Standard IT competencies in Word, PowerPoint and Excel or equivalent programs
- Training and supervisory skills
- Ability to problem solve at a level appropriate to the post
Desirable
- Ability to review, process and present complex information in a clear and concise manner in a variety of formats
Personal Qualities/Special Circumstances
Essential
- Self-motivated individual with an organised and logical approach to work
- Ability to be adaptable and to work flexibly under pressure to prioritise and achieve deadlines
- Able to work during the normal working week, scheduled extended hours and rota cover, weekends and Bank Holidays
- Able to work as part of a busy team, and also on own initiative without direct supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
