Specialist Midwife - PAS

• The postholder will provide direct clinical care to women with a suspected diagnosis of PAS across all four designated PAS centres.
• Acting as a patient advocate and champion, the postholder will ensure that the patient voice remains central to all clinical network activities, embedding person-centred principles within the networked model of care and associated clinical pathways.
• The postholder must demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver a complex programme of work spanning multiple providers, commissioners, and patient groups.
• They will possess the professional credibility, expertise, and interpersonal skills necessary to unite diverse stakeholders, manage differing perspectives, and, where required, act as an impartial facilitator to reconcile competing priorities.

• Preoperative counselling and preparation.
• Postoperative psychosocial follow-up.
• Coordination of care across multiple providers and organisations
• Support for women and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, or bereavement.
• Ensuring adherence to national guidance and quality standards.
• Contributing to clinical governance, including supporting the development of regional standard operating procedures (SOPs) and patient information resources.
• Leading audit activity and supporting robust data collection.
• Supporting the establishment of a regional patient support group.

Essential

• Registered Midwife
• Relevant post-registration qualification
• Degree Level Qualification or equivalent experience
• Master's Degree in a healthcare related subject (or demonstrable evidence of working at Masters Level).
• Evidence of continuing professional development

Essential

• Working knowledge of operational midwifery leadership within fields including Complex caesarean sections or Placenta Accreta Spectrum
• Sound knowledge and experience in managing the care of maternity surgical patients or PAS
• Sound knowledge and experience managing the care of a critically ill patient requiring stabilisation or escalation of care
• Knowledge and understanding of current professional midwifery policy and practice issues
• Knowledge & experience of Safeguarding Adults & Children
• Knowledge & Understanding of Infection Control
• Proven change management skills
• Knowledge, understanding and experience in Risk Management and Governance issues.
• Knowledge & understanding of Patient/Public Involvement, management
• Knowledge of NHS Directives and policy initiatives.
• Understanding of Local and National policy drivers

• Evidence of knowledge regarding clinical audit
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, engaging in highly complex communication situations where information is highly sensitive. Including having difficult conversations with patients, staff and regional stakeholders.
• Ability to act as a champion for patients and their interests ensuring that patients are actively engaged and their voice is at the heart of the Networks activities. Recognising that this will involve challenging situations and conversations.
