The post holders will have the opportunity to work across our community sites with Evelina Community OT team based at Sunshine House Child Development Centre in Camberwell, Southwark and Mary Sheridan Child development Centre, Kennington, Lambeth.
The successful applicants will be working within a large team of community children occupational therapists that support services to the Evelina community population in Lambeth and Southwark and will also be an integral part of the experts@hand multidisciplinary team supporting SEND reforms across these two boroughs.
You will have the opportunity to see children 0-19 across a range of conditions such as complex physical disabilities, Autism, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), and deliver blocks of assessment and therapy intervention within the service model.
Within our service we use the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement (CMOP-e) to guide our clinical reasoning and practice- keeping a clear focus on occupational outcomes.

As a Band 6 OT you will have an opportunity to:
Develop your community children occupational therapy skills, e.g. assess and treat children with a range of developmental conditions within the child's home and community settings such as nursery and schoolDevelop your skills in complex case management of children and familiesDevelop your skills in Participation, Environment and Occupation and its application when assessing need and working with families and carersDevelop supervisory, leadership and service development skillsDevelop your skills in service development
The Occupational Therapy service has a supportive and progressive management structure with departmental objectives founded upon the principles of the clinical governance framework and trust core values. The trust is committed to continuing the professional development of its workforce and the department has structured in-service training supported by personal and professional development plans and yearly appraisals.
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential
- State registered Occupational Therapist (Health and Care Professions Council)
- Recognised training course for an Occupational therapist (e.g. PGDip or degree).
Desirable
- Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy
- Member of Children's and Young Person special interest group
Skills
Essential
- Able to organise and manage own caseload.
- Able to work without direct supervision
- Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner.
- Able to set collaborative goals with client's and families.
- Have an awareness or understanding of Safeguarding
- Ability to cope with stressful situations.
- Able to work closely with team members.
- Be responsive to change and ideas- adapt to new systems, flexible working patterns.
- Ability to work from home when required.
Desirable
- Able to assess children.
- Involvement in service innovation/development
- Able to drive a car in the community setting
Experience
Essential
- Post registration experience
- Working knowledge of the implementation of OT models of practice
- Have knowledge of typical child development
- Experience of multidisciplinary team or multi-agency working
Desirable
- Post registration experience of paediatrics.
- Post registration experience of neurology cases
- Experience of managing occupational therapy support staff
