- Perform hearing screening tests for newborn babies in hospital and community settings.
- Explain the screening process and results to parents in a sensitive and reassuring manner.
- Maintain accurate patient records and screening data.
- Follow national screening standards and local protocols.
- Work closely with maternity, neonatal, audiology and administrative teams.
- Promote a positive experience for families during the screening process.
About You We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is confident working independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates compassion and empathy when working with families.
- Has good organisational and IT skills.
- Pays close attention to detail and can follow procedures accurately.
- Is flexible and able to work across different clinical locations.

Qualifications
Essential: - Good general education to GCSE level A-C or equivalent in English, Maths and IT as a minimum; - Health Screener Diploma Level 3 or willingness to complete
Desirable
- Health and Social care related NVQ at Level 2 or higher
- Has completed Newborn hearing screening training and obtained an OSCE Certificate or ECA Certificate
Experience
Essential: - Experience of dealing with a wide diversity of people
Desirable: - Experience of working in a hospital environment; - Baby handling skills
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Good IT skills, including email, Internet and Microsoft software.
- Ability to work Independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain records to a high standard of completeness and accuracy
- Ability to manage time, priorities and stressful situations
- Caring and flexible approach
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to the KRFT values
Desirable: - Previous experience of patient management systems
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of Hearing and Hearing loss
- Knowledge of the purpose of a screening programme
- Evidence of continuing personal and professional development or willingness to
Desirable: - Knowledge of the safeguarding process and child protection procedures; - Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection
