Support workers in the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit work in clean rooms in isolators preparing chemotherapy injections for patients with cancer.
We require a person with a positive and responsible attitude to work, good communication skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines. You should be an enthusiastic team member but be able to work on your own initiative. Previous Pharmacy or manufacturing experience would be an advantage but is not essential as comprehensive training and support will be given.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Good command of English language and numeracy
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
- Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines (APDM)
Experience and Knowledge
Desirable
- Previous experience of aseptic preparation or clean room environments
- Previous pharmacy experience
- Previous experience of stock control
Skills and Ability
Essential
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal & written
- Computer literate
- Numerate - able to do complex calculations
- Manual dexterity - able to undertake aseptic manipulations
- Ability to differentiate between drug strengths, forms, names and comprehend batch numbers and expiry dates.
- Organisational skills
- Able to work at an isolator cabinet for long periods
- Able to work in clean room clothing following strict personal policies
- Able to move heavy loads
Desirable
- Experience of following Standard Operating Procedures
