- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
- Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care.
- Plan, organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs. Manage effective flows of patients within Emergency Services to meet NHS targets.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
- To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
- Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to Emergency Nursing as advised by the senior sister or charge nurse / Clinical Nurse Manager.
- Take responsibility for self-development through the appraisal system and work towards completing agreed personal development plan.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential: - Full valid UK NMC Adult registration; - Post-qualification education in Emergency Nursing or equivalent experience; - Practice assessor course ILS
Desirable: - Critical Care Transfer Course; - Trauma Nursing Course; - ALS; - Leadership course; - PGD course; - IRMER course
Experience
Essential: - Demonstrable significant experience in A&E as a registered nurse
Desirable
- Experience of taking charge of the department and managing patient flow
- Experience of working in a minor injuries unit
- Previous critical care experience
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential: - Good level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills; - Triage competent, requiring supervision
Desirable: - Experience with audit and research
