Senior Sister/Charge Nurse

The post-holder will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the Emergency Department, leading clinical shifts, supporting junior staff, and acting as a clinical expert.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective patient flow and uphold best practice standards.

Key responsibilities include risk assessment, resource management, mentoring, and implementing improvement initiatives. You will also engage in audit, staff education, and act as a role model for compassionate, evidence-based care.

A critical part of the role will be collaborating across services to ensure a seamless patient journey from admission to discharge or transfer.

Education and Qualifications

Essential: - Registered Nurse on NMC register; - Degree in Nursing; - RCN Emergency Nursing level 2

Desirable: - Further studies at masters level in relevant subject; - Leadership qualification; - ALS
