Senior Clinical Fellow - Respiratory

The key duties and responsibilities of the post will be:

o Clinical responsibility for the proper functioning of the Respiratory Unit, including ward rounds, and out-patient clinics.

o Perform practical procedures including Bronchoscopy, Thoracic Ultrasound and Thoracocentesis with appropriate supervision as needed.

o Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including supervision of the junior medical staff, and undergraduate medical students, and take an active part in local and regional educational programmes.

o Work within the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective team working in the respiratory team for the provision of care to the patients on the unit.

o Develop clinical guidelines/protocols and best practice for the management of a wide range of acute medical presentations /admissions.

o Ensure robust risk management and governance arrangements are in place on respiratory wards, supported by the clinical governance lead.

o Participate in relevant audit and quality improvement programmes (QIPs).

o Liaise closely with the Emergency Department, Medical and Critical Care teams and other in-patient teams to ensure collaborative working arrangements are in place, which maximise benefits to patient care.

We operate from two main sites - KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We're campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen's and get rid of corridor care.

We're proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
