Shift duties to provide a comprehensive 24 hour, 365 day a year service in Trauma and General Radiography are an essential part of this role. You should be able to work a variety of shifts in order to meet this commitment together with out of hours working. This includes covering cath lab on call

Additional duties include supervision of junior staff, clinical audit, vetting and justification overview, as well as being an independent practitioner.

The department actively supports internal training in speciality modalities to include Cardiac and Interventional Radiography, CT scanning. External training is supported in Medical Ultrasound, Radiographer reporting and Mammography.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSC Honours Diagnostic Radiographer / DCR or equivalent (Grade 2.2 or above only)
  • Evidence of continued professional development to post graduate diploma level or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • HPC Registration
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

  • Training in supervisory skills
  • Staff management / supervisory training / skills
  • Post graduate short courses or other training in relevant subject

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of participation in all elements of Clinical Governance
  • Previous experience of working in an imaging department providing a variety of imaging services to an advanced level of practice
  • Experience in Cardiac cath lab

Desirable

  • Experience in Interventional Radiology
  • Evidence of supervisory experience within complex clinical imaging environment
  • Evidence of staff training and mentoring
  • Staff and resource management experience

Skills, knowledge and Abilities

Essential

  • Competence across a range of imaging skills supported by professional and specialist knowledge
  • Possess equipment and medical devices competences
  • Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and non-verbal
  • Ability to act as an autonomous and accountable practitioner
  • Clinical supervision and mentoring IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 1999
  • Excellent imaging skills
  • RIS/PACS systems awareness and literacy
  • Able to undertake self audit
  • Understanding of service improvement techniques and toolkits and national agendas around service delivery

Desirable

  • Business development skills e.g. creation of business cases
  • Able to commission new imaging equipment
  • Able to carry out routine maintenance of equipment within scope of practice
  • Other specialised area of knowledge that will significantly aid Departmental management eg Health and Safety, Risk Management, Student Clinical co-ordinator
  • Team leadership

Essential

  • Demonstrates attention to detail and professional attitude towards completion of application form

  • Experience in Radiation Protection supervisory role
