The Senior Care Support Worker will: Be an integral member of the ward/department team working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registere...

The Senior Care Support Worker will together with members of the Nursing team and contribute to the implementation of a high standard and individualised patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.

The post holder will be required to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team, patients and relatives and must be able to recognise and report to the appropriate person any changes in the patient's condition which may require the intervention of others.

The post holder will be assessed on appointment on their level of competence and required as part of the Trusts training and development programme for care support workers to undertake a structured pathway of development to include basic skills and in house development programme.

Qualification

Essential: - NVQ level 3/ diploma level 3 or working towards; - English & Maths A - C, 9 - 4 or Functional Skills Level 2

Desirable: - Male Catheterisation; - ECG; - Venepuncture

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of caring for people in a care worker role within a hospital, the community or a residential nursing home setting
  • Experience of close working with members of the multidisciplinary team

Desirable: - Previous NHS Acute Medical experience

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential: - Effective communication skills, verbal and written; - Computer literate
