Stuart Road Surgery is continuing its journey through a period of transformation and we are inviting applications for a salaried GP to join our expand...

We are looking for a GP to cover morning and afternoon sessions. This will include home visits and Duty (On-call) rota as required.

We are a SystmOne practice.

Salary will be extremely competitive and negotiable dependent upon experience.

Additional skills such as joint injections and minor surgery would be desirable, but are not essential.

AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

In accordance

with the working arrangements, the post-holder will make themselves available

to undertake clinical sessions.

They will be

Expected to

Provide surgery consultations,

telephone consultations and home visits

Check and sign repeat prescriptions

Deal with queries, both over the

telephone and in person

Handle paperwork and correspondence

within the practice guidelines

Make professional and autonomous

decisions in relation to presenting problems whether these are self-referred or

referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assess the health care needs of

patients who have undifferentiated or undiagnosed problems

Screen patients for disease risk

factors and early signs of illness

Consult with patients in line with

current practice disease management protocols to develop care plans for health

Provide counselling and health

education

Admit or discharge patients to and

from the caseload and refer them to other care providers as appropriate

Record consultation notes clearly and

contemporaneously within agreed standards

Collect data for audit purposes

Compile and issue computer-generated

acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever

possible

Prescribe in accordance with the

Practice prescribing formulary, or generically, whenever this is clinically

appropriate

In general the

post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and

responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Stuart Road Surgery is a GP and nurse training practice with a patient list size of around 7000 patients, and conveniently located on the edge of Pontefract town centre.

Our clinical team comprises of 2 x GP Partners, 6 x Salaried GP's, 2 x Practice nurses and 1 x HCA along with a team of external staff employed by our Primary Care Network. Our admin team comprises of a around 13 dedicated and supportive admin / reception staff along with our Practice / business manager and Operations Manager.

We strive to achieve excellence and are continually developing and improving our surgery.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Valid GMC registration

Desirable

  • Minor Surgery or willing to train

Experience

Essential

  • Experienced or newly qualified will both be considered

Desirable

  • Minor surgery / Joint injections would be desirable, but not essential.
