The successful candidate will be a key part of the practice leadership team and will share our vision of excellent patient-centred care.
You will have experience leading high performing teams with compassion.
Your main role will be taking responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the surgery reception and administration team.
A high degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, discretion and tact is required.
Experience of working in a GP surgery is essential. Support and training for the role will be provided.
The successful candidate will be expected to work fixed hours including some 8am starts and some 6:30pm finishes. The surgery is open Monday to Friday.

Reports to: Practice Manager
Accountable to: Practice Manager
Hours: 37.5 per week
You will be responsible for leading
- Day-to-day operations of reception and administration
- Health and safety at the surgery
- Data security and protection
- Maintenance, security and insurance of the surgery building
You will also work with the practice manager to:
- Support quality and safety, including QOF and other targets
- Prepare clinical and non-clinical rotas
- Support CQC compliance
- Prepare and update practice policy documents
- Prepare accounting information and NHS compliance submissions
- Maintain surgery HR records
We are a GP Partnership in Dulwich (SE24) with high patient satisfaction and outstanding health outcomes.
The surgery team is experienced, with many of our colleagues having worked at Elm Lodge for over 10 years. We are welcoming to new team members.
We prioritise providing a good service to our patients, and seek to work in a way that is environmentally sustainable.
Qualifications
Essential
- Good general education to A Level or equivalent
Desirable
- Degree level qualification in a subject related to management or business
- Vocational qualifications related to general practice administration or management
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- Experience of leading a team
Key Skills
Essential
- Excellent IT skills including MS Excel
- Excellent written and spoken skills in English
Desirable
- Leading team meetings
- Handling HR matters including drafting contracts of employment, performance management and grievances
- Responding to complaints
- Processing documents and referrals in a GP practice
