Job description

Looking for a practice where you can do good medicine, feel supported and still have a life outside work? We are looking for a Salaried GP to join us ...

What working here looks like

You will provide high quality, patient centred general medical services through a combination of face to face, telephone and digital consultations.

  • assessing and managing acute and long-term conditions
  • delivering safe, evidence-based and personalised care
  • prescribing and reviewing medicines appropriately
  • reviewing investigations, pathology and clinical correspondence
  • supporting prevention, health promotion and shared decision-making
  • fulfilling safeguarding and clinical-governance responsibilities
  • working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team; and
  • contributing to service improvement where this aligns with your interests.

We have invested in workflow optimisation, digital triage, pharmacy support and a ACP (Paramedic) led home visiting service so that clinical work can be shared appropriately across the team.

Our aim is not to ask GPs to do everything. It is to make effective use of the skills available across the Practice so that patients receive the right care, from the right professional, at the right time.

You will need

  • GMC registration with a Licence to Practise
  • inclusion, or eligibility for inclusion, on the NHS England Medical Performers List
  • MRCGP or an equivalent recognised qualification; and
  • a commitment to safe, compassionate and collaborative patient care.

You may be newly qualified or bring many years of experience. More important to us is that you:

  • enjoy the breadth and relationships of general practice
  • communicate with warmth, clarity and professionalism
  • value multidisciplinary working
  • are open to learning and improvement
  • take clinical responsibility seriously
  • support colleagues as well as patients; and
  • want to contribute to the continued development of the Practice.

We care for approximately 27,000 patients across our Sandown and Shanklin surgeries, close to the beaches and countryside of the Islands south-east coast.

The Practice is owned and led by a partnership of 14 GP Partners, working alongside Salaried GPs and a substantial multidisciplinary team.

Our wider clinical team includes

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Clinical Practitioners
  • Advanced Paramedics
  • Practice Nurses and Nursing Associates
  • Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists
  • Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
  • Mental Health Practitioners
  • FCP practitioners
  • Social Prescribers
  • Experienced Patient Advisors and administrative colleagues

This breadth of expertise helps patients reach the right professional and enables our GPs to work as part of a genuinely multidisciplinary primary care service.

Culture matters to us.

Our vision is guided by two connected frameworks:

  • The REAL Strategy Relationships, Environment, Accountability and Leadership; and
  • The Bay Way the everyday behaviours through which we show respect and support to patients and colleagues.

Together they reflect our commitment to high-quality patient care and a positive, inclusive and progressive working environment.
