Salaried GP - Part Time 3 days (6 sessions) per week

Telephone, face to face patient consultation sessions including home visits, making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations.

Undertaking on-call duty doctor sessions as distributed fairly between all GPs.

Prescribe and review medication and treatment within national and practice protocols, referring patients for specialist care as required.

Processing correspondence, pathology results, and medical reports.

Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols. Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans.

Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards.

Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of practice workload.

All general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

A Salaried GP works as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for

the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an

excellent standard of clinical care while complying with the contract.

Furthermore, the post-holder will

adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the

effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a

positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

The role is to support, mentor, and

supervise other healthcare professionals within the organisation and be an

integral part of the general practice team.

Primary Key Responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of

the Salaried GP in delivering health services.

a.

The

delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b.

The

provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c.

To

clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and

psychologicalperspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients

to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other

local guidelines

d.

Generic

prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

e.

Prioritise

health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex,

urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency

care

f.

Effective

management of long-term conditions

g.

To

support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy

lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

h.

Processing

of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription

requests and other associated administrative tasks

i.

Review

medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines

and local care pathways

j.

Maintain

accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and

guidance

Work

collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhere

to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

c.

Support

the delivery of anticipatory care plans

Contribute

to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality

dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels

Coltishall Medical Practice is a friendly, patient-centred practice, operating from bright, modern and well-equipped buildings at Coltishall and a small branch surgery at Spixworth.

We look after just under 9000 patients in a largely rural location on the beautiful Norfolk Broads, a short drive to both Norwich and the North Norfolk Coast.

We are a training practice with a passion for education and excellent patient care, also providing teaching to Medical Students from the University of East Anglia and regular in-house clinical learning sessions.
