Job description

Llandrindod Wells Medical Practice is looking for a 4 to 8 session salaried GP to join a warm, supportive, and sociable practice in the heart of beaut...

You will be joining a supportive, well-resourced

multidisciplinary team that includes five partners, a salaried GP, an ANP, trainee ANP, a

Paramedic and three experienced nurses. Our pharmacy technician plays a key role

in managing hospital discharges and clinic correspondence, and we work closely

with the District Nurse team. You will also benefit from cohesive

administrative and management support that helps ensure smooth day to day

operations. In addition, we run a 15 bed Community Hospital, offering unique

opportunities for collaborative working and strong links with local teams and

services.

You will enjoy 10-minute appointments including a dedicated

coffee break where the team comes together to catch up and sign prescriptions,

and protected administration time. We offer a total triage model where the

on-call doctor reviews all clinical requests and directs patients to the most

appropriate service. On-call duties are shared fairly across the team and are

arranged as either a morning or afternoon session, helping to maintain a

balanced and supportive working day. We provide a full range of additional enhanced services including minor surgery.

The postholder will carry out the full range of duties normally undertaken by a GP working within primary care. The examples below are indicative rather than exhaustive

  • Working in line with the Practices agreed consulting schedule, the GP will provide a mix of facetoface consultations, telephone/online consultations, participate in the duty and hospital rota, undertake home visits, attend virtual ward meetings, review and sign repeat prescriptions, manage clinical queries, and handle test results, reports, and medical examinations requested for external organisations.
  • Exercising independent clinical judgement when managing patients who selfpresent or are referred by other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and comprehensive electronic clinical records in accordance with Practice standards.
  • Contributing to audit activity by collecting and recording relevant clinical data.
  • Producing electronic acute and repeat prescriptions, limiting handwritten prescriptions wherever possible.
  • Making referrals to both NHS and private providers in accordance with local and national pathways and guidelines.
  • Prescribing safely and appropriately, following locally agreed or national prescribing guidance.
  • Supporting the professional development of colleagues through clinical supervision and training as mutually agreed.

The postholder will uphold the Practices commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion by:

  • Acting in a way that supports the rights of patients, carers, and colleagues, and applying relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Treating everyone with dignity and respect, recognising individual needs, beliefs, and values.

  • Ensuring ongoing professional development by engaging in required training, maintaining uptodate knowledge and skills, and keeping appropriate records.
  • Participating in the Practices appraisal processes as well as fulfilling requirements for annual GP appraisal and revalidation.

Confidentiality and Data Security

  • Adhering to Practice policies relating to confidentiality, information governance, data protection, and IT security at all times.

Health and Safety

  • Working safely and in accordance with organisational health and safety procedures, including those relating to infection prevention and control.

We have roughly 11,000 patients. We are proud to be a

training practice supporting the development of future clinicians at every

stage. We regularly have GP registrars, nurse trainees and medical students,

creating a dynamic learning environment. If you enjoy teaching or are keen to

develop your skills in education this is an ideal place to get involved and

make a meaningful contribution to the next generation of healthcare

professionals.
