  • Patient Consultations
  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations with patients.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Prescribing & Medicines Management
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in line with current evidence-based guidance and practice protocols.
  • Review repeat prescriptions and conduct medication reviews.
  • Referrals & Coordination of Care
  • Refer patients to secondary care and other services as clinically appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with other health professionals
  • Offer advice and support on disease prevention, screening programmes, lifestyle modification, and immunisations.
  • Record-Keeping & Administration
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and legible patient records using the practices clinical system.
  • Complete reports, letters, and forms in a timely manner.
  • Home Visits
  • Undertake home visits when clinically required and agreed as part of the duty rota.
  • Duty Doctor / On-Call Sessions
  • Participate in the duty doctor rota to provide urgent, same-day care for patients.
  • Teamwork & Practice Development
  • Attend and contribute to clinical meetings, significant event analyses, and quality improvement activities.

Job Description Salaried General Practitioner

Post Title: Salaried GP (Newly Qualified Welcome)

Location: Ashdown Medical Group, Downham/Lee London

Responsible to: Practice Partners / Clinical Lead GP

Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time (4 to 6 sessions per week)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience (plus NHS Pension & Indemnity cover)

We are a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice looking for an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our clinical team for 46 sessions per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified GP seeking a supportive environment with opportunities for career development, mentorship, and special interest work.

You will provide high-quality, patient-centred medical care to our registered population, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to meet the health needs of our diverse community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a valued member of our team, you will:

  • Provide consultations in person, over the telephone, or via video for a variety of acute, chronic, and preventive care needs.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage a broad range of medical conditions.
  • Prescribe safely and effectively, and conduct medication reviews.
  • Arrange and interpret appropriate investigations.
  • Refer patients to secondary care and community services where required.
  • Offer health promotion advice, lifestyle support, and preventive interventions.
  • Participate in the duty doctor rota, managing same-day demand and occasional home visits.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the practice clinical system.
  • Contribute to clinical meetings, audits, significant event reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support the practice in meeting QOF, Enhanced Services, and other contractual requirements.
  • Maintain professional development in line with GMC revalidation requirements.
