We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Physiotherapists dedicated to advancing their skills in acute assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning for adult patients across acute and community settings.
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist, you will independently manage your own specialist caseload, including complex cases. You will also take part in our night on-call respiratory service and weekend working within the admission avoidance, enhanced rehabilitation, and haematology/oncology services.
Our role offers exciting 9-month rotations that include:
Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit & Short stay ward
In-patient Senior Health Wards, including Acute Senior Health Unit
Community Rehabilitation (intermediate care bedded unit)
Working both autonomously and as part of a supportive therapy and multidisciplinary team, you will receive robust support from Clinical Team Leads. Excellent clinical, communication, and discharge-planning skills are essential. Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
- HPC registration
- Evidence of CPD, in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio, including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field
Desirable: - Post graduate education completed or in progress.; - Special interest group membership

- Physically fit and able to comply with the Trust's Manual Handling Guidelines
- Able to perform on call and weekend duties
- Professional attitude/behaviour
- Compliance with the Trust's No Smoking Policy and Dress Code (uniform) Policy
- Able to alter their working patterns to include working extended hours, unsociable hours and weekend working.
Desirable: - Driving Licence
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 1 year's NHS experience (can include undergraduate experience).
- Minimum 2 years post registration experience
- Broad range of experience at band 5 level including a minimum of 4 months experience in each of: ICU, medical, surgery, neurology, outpatients and older people's rehabilitation
- Participation in night time on-call rota
- Participate in weekend working within the rehabilitation setting you are based in
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team, including setting team goals
- Ability to form a sound prognosis and advise other members of the MDT
Desirable
- Previous experience at Band 6 level
- Student supervision / clinical education
- Experience of the research process
- Teaching experience in in-service programmes
- Committee membership, e.g. health and safety
- Experience of clinical education of undergraduate students

- Fluent in written and oral English, and able to present complex information in a clear and logical manner
- Good assessment skills based on a sound clinical reasoning approach including the assessment of symptom behaviour, history taking and gathering of physical/objective testing and hypothesis formation
- Ability to work with multi/interdisciplinary team and set team goals
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
- To actively participate in staff training
- Ability to keep legible and accurate notes in English in the POMR system
- Computer literacy
- Presentation skills
- Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities

- Remains updated with professional practice and new research
- Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and the implications for physiotherapy services including experience of quality issues and audit
- Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety to meet the differing needs of the patients
Desirable: - Evidence of participation in research / audit
