  • Participate in clinical and other service activities, helping to ensure a high standard of patient care.
  • Work closely with allied health professionals to support service delivery, including advance care planning and review of clinical symptoms.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and develop a strong understanding of effective MDT working.
  • Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training across disciplines and specialties.
  • Contribute to the development of integrated patient pathways.
  • Support service development and evaluation, which may include patient consent and appropriate data handling.
  • Take part in research, clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.
  • Participate in the acute on-call rota and undertake clinical duties appropriate to the level of the post.

The role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in managing older patients with complex medical needs, while developing skills in multidisciplinary working, education, service improvement and clinical practice.

Qualifications and Training

Essential: - Maintain Full registration with the GMC; - MRCP(UK) or MRCPI; - Valid Advanced Life Support Certification; - IMT3 level or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential: - Able to assess, resuscitate and stabilise acutely sick patients.; - Good clinical judgement; - Understand Audit/governance processes

Desirable: - Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MS)

  • Demonstrates initiative
  • Ability to gain confidence of both staff and patients

  • Evidence of recent CME and training progression at this stage of career
  • Experience in conducting and writing up quality improvement projects

Desirable: - Conference presentations and posters; - Proven track record in research; - Evidence of relevant publications in peer reviewed journals

Additional and Aptitudes

Essential

  • IT skills on all Microsoft packages
  • Fluent English speaker with Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.
