Assist the cardiologist in diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Act as a scrub nurse during procedures, on a rotational basis.
In conjunction with the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse, to be responsible for delivery and evaluation of nursing care for patients within the department.
To ensure the effective maintenance of paper and integrated electronic communication systems to enhance clinical practice.
To oversee the ordering, stock levels and security of drugs kept in the department as per Trust protocol.
Actively participate in emergency cover for the department and to participate in our 24/7 oncall PPCI service.

Qualifications / Training
Essential
- Registered nurse on part 1 or 12 of the NMC register
- Appropriate post registration course or relevant experience
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable
- ILS provider
Previous Experience
Essential
- Extensive post registration experience
Desirable
- Understanding of the patient pathway including national waiting targets
- Previous experience within a cardiac catheter lab setting
- Experience of non-invasive cardiology tests
Skills
Essential
- Excellent organisation and time management skills and an ability to priorities own workload and that of others
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
Desirable
- Computer literate and presentation skills
- Understanding of research and audit and a willingness to participate in these within the department
Knowledge
Essential
- Broad knowledge of cardiology and the management of cardiac conditions, with an understanding of ECGs
