The Regional Maintenance Support Operative at Avery Healthcare is a crucial role dedicated to maintaining and improving the environments of our care homes. The operative will work independently across multiple sites in the central region, providing essential maintenance cover when local support is unavailable. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we're looking for an experiencedRegional Maintenance Support Operative to provide essential maintenance cover across our care homes nationwide while helping to maintain safe, welcoming environments for residents and teams.
ABOUT THE ROLEThis is a mobile role supporting care homes across the central region when local maintenance cover is unavailable. You'll work independently across a range of sites, carrying out maintenance tasks, compliance checks, and minor repairs while ensuring our homes remain safe, compliant, and well-maintained.
When maintenance cover is not required, you'll support property improvement projects, helping to deliver upgrades and enhancements across our portfolio of care homes.
Key responsibilities include
- Providing maintenance support across multiple care homes as required.
- Completing routine safety and compliance inspections, including checks on fire safety, water systems, emergency lighting, equipment, and other essential services.
- Carrying out general repairs and maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and building work.
- Training and supporting new maintenance colleagues in statutory checks and maintenance procedures.
- Communicating with Estates Managers regarding completed works, compliance requirements, and site updates.
- Assisting with refurbishment and improvement projects, including planning, risk assessments, and material procurement.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety across all work activities.
- Managing company vehicle responsibilities, including basic upkeep and expense reporting.
ABOUT YOUWe're looking for someone who is practical, reliable, and confident working independently across multiple locations.
You will have
- Experience in general building maintenance or a trade-related environment.
- Working knowledge of health and safety procedures, including manual handling and COSHH.
- Practical skills across a range of maintenance disciplines such as plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and basic electrical work.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A flexible approach and willingness to travel extensively, including occasional overnight stays.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work on your own initiative.
- A full UK driving licence.
