Main Duties Of The Role

  • Administer or monitor medicines safely and in a timely manner via the NMC agreed routesof administration - adhering to the Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS FoundationTrust, Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines Policy
  • The Registered Nurse Associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding,skills, attitudes, and behaviours relevant to employment as a Registered NursingAssociate and will work to a nationally recognised Code of Conduct.
  • The Registered Nursing Associate works independently under the leadership of RegisteredNurses, working within the scope of their competence and the role requirements in thedelivery of nursing care.
  • The Registered Nurse Associate will have the ability to make decisions within their scope ofcompetence and will liaise and report back any findings and evaluations to RegisteredNursing staff.
  • The Registered Nursing Associate will have the responsibility for their own actions

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Educated to a minimum level 5 foundation degree specific to nursing associate practice
  • GCSE level 4-9 in Maths and English or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working within a health / care setting
  • Understanding of the importance of the promotion of health and wellbeing (Making Every Contact Count)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • nsight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional

Skills/ Abilities

Essential

  • Evidence of time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • IT skills appropriate to the role
  • Ability to communicate with members of the public and health and care providers
  • Courteous, respectful and helpful at all times
  • Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of the workload and individual patient contact
  • Ability to work on own initiative, be well motivated and motivate others
  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
  • Able to demonstrate resilience, managing personal emotions and stress
  • Ability to engage and complete preceptorship
