Our Friendly Pre-Assessment unit is looking for registered Nurses/ODPs to be able to support the peri-operative (Pre-op) assessment of patients prior ...

The post holder will be responsible for implementing, co-ordinating and delivering effective, high-quality care for the pre-operative patient, following a client-centred model of practice and ensuring the area of work runs smoothly and efficiently.To make appropriate verbal and written assessment to gain information relating to a patient's surgery.To act on such assessments in preparing and supporting the patient's pathway, referring to outside specialist help if required.

As part of the wider hospital team, you'll interact with practitioners from other areas because you understand that continuity in patient care is key.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with NMC or HPC registration

Desirable

  • Nursing degree / Operating department practitioner degree or equivalent
  • Preoperative Assessment Course

Experiance

Essential

  • Experience working within the surgical directorate

Desirable

  • Experience of the use of clinical systems

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to undertake venepuncture physiological observations, and ECG recording.

Desirable

  • Demonstrates evidence based clinical knowledge

Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate and and interest and understanding of the requirements of preop-operative assessment

Desirable

  • Ability to coordinate your workload and supervise members of the team, ensuring high quality, safe and effective patient care
  • Previous experience within pre-operative assessment unit
