Practice Nurse

The successful post holder must have previous experience of working in primary care and proficiency in managing long term conditions.

In addition you will be required to undertake full treatment room duties, including immunisations, dressings, removal of sutures, cervical smear taking and anti-coagulation monitoring. Experience in additional areas including travel immunisations and family planning are desirable

The shift pattern comprises duties across four days of the week to dovetail with the other practice nurse. Flexibility is required to cross cover annual leave.

Mondays 8.30-3.30 7hrs

Tuesdays 2:00-7:00 5hrs

Wednesday day off

Thursday day off

The post holder must work as part of a team, have the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload on a day to day basis, and observe strict rules about confidentiality at all times. They must also know the limits of their own capabilities and seek direction from a GP.

Working strictly in accordance with specific practice or national guidelines, the Practice Nurse will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

The post holder must maintain registration with NMC, maintaining its Code of Conduct to protect the public through professional standards. Fulfil their learning requirements.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

The practice has a stable clinical team of a GP partner, a locum GP, two practice nurses, GP assistant and Pharmacy tec.

We are supported by an experienced admin team who cover reception, admin and dispensing.

We use Systm1 as a practice system supported with other software like INRstar and AccuRx.

Qualifications

Desirable: - Post graduate diploma or degree (Primary Care); - Spirometry; - Awareness of issues within the wider health arena.
