Practice Nurse

• Providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients.
• Supporting the practice in achieving clinical quality indicators and targets.
• Providing care and monitoring for patients with long-term conditions, including diabetes and respiratory disease.
• Providing women's health services.
• Undertaking wound assessment, treatment and ongoing management in line with local and national guidance and the practice wound care formulary.
• Carrying out venepuncture and appropriate clinical observations, including blood pressure, weight, height and BMI.
• Performing ECGs and, where trained, ambulatory blood pressure and 24-hour ECG monitoring.
• Administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, including vaccinations and other prescribed therapies.
• Providing adult and childhood immunisation services in accordance with appropriate PGDs/PSDs and practice procedures.
• Supporting travel health and vaccination services following appropriate training.
• Providing general treatment room services, including wound care and injections.
• Providing cervical screening following appropriate training.
• Undertaking NHS health checks and learning disability health checks for eligible patients, where appropriately trained.
• Providing sexual health services, including pill checks and discussions around long-term contraception, and assisting with coil and implant clinics where appropriately trained.
• Performing INR checks for patients receiving warfarin, following appropriate training.
• Supporting minor injury services and assisting GPs with minor surgery.
• Recognising and responding appropriately to clinical emergencies, including patient collapse, hypo/hyperglycaemia, asthma attacks and anaphylaxis.
• Maintaining effective infection prevention and control procedures, including the safe handling of specimens, clinical waste, blood and bodily fluids and sharps.
• Recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving children, families and vulnerable adults.

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Minimum one year's experience working as a General Practice Nurse.
