Practice Nurse

• Practice independently in accordance with the NMC code of conduct, with reference to practice guidelines, referring to GPs as appropriate

• Provide health screenings (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary

• Request appropriate pathology tests to support patient care
• Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or to agreed protocols

• Advise patients on general health care with referral to GPs as necessary
• In participation with the team members ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care, alongside administrative and professional responsibilities of the team
• Accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice
• Effective liaison with other agencies concerned with patient care and other disciplines within the practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality

• A nursing degree and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a General Practice setting
• Prescribing qualification would be preferred
• Current NMC registration with an active PIN
• Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
• Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, Family Planning Advice, dressing, wound care, suture removal and recording spirometry.
• Compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of our patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
• Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions.
• Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and NHS.
